When The World's Turned Upside Down Lin-Manuel Miranda Releases Unheard Hamilton Track!

The Tony-winning creator releases cut Hamilton song, "I Have This Friend".

Tony-winning Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda certainly raised our spirits this weekend has he released a previously unheard track from his juggernaut, Hamilton. Miranda released the cut song, "I Have This Friend", on SoundCloud on Friday, March 13.

"I Have This Friend" was a first draft of the song before "The Reynolds Pamphlet", which is now served by "Hurricane". It features Miranda singing and would have been performed (if it had made it onto the stage) by himself and Christopher Jackson (who starred as George Washington in the original Broadway cast).

The release comes as several performances of Hamilton, including the production's long-running Broadway run, have had to be suspended as a precaution in a response to COVID-19, in the hope that it would soothe not only Hamilton fans but theater fans across the country.

Get your Hamilton fix with "I Have This Friend" below, and get ready to see Hamilton light up your town soon!

What is Hamilton about?

Hamilton's story is an extraordinary journey of success in the face of adversity, a life built on a raging passion to do good and create change for the better, as he rose from a Caribbean immigrant to one of the most important men in America.

Born out of wedlock in the West Indies and orphaned by the time he was 11, he arrived in New Jersey in 1772 to begin his grammar school education. From there he played a major role in the American revolutionary war, rising through the ranks to become an aide to George Washington. But that was only the beginning of the great man's story, with the proceeding chapters in his life taking in everything from sex scandals, fatal duels and the creation of the American Constitution.
